Services & maintenance
At Cartier, service is an art. Advice, maintenance, repairs, adjustment or personalisation: the Maison is committed to creating a unique, rich and vibrant relationship of trust with each of its customers, to building on it over time. To make every moment an encounter between you and Cartier.
Enhancing the gem's sparkle
For Cartier, stones are eternal and their beauty transcends time.
For their original intensity to last, they need to be treated with the same care as everything else we love. A few precautions and maintenance tips will keep them always shining and free from imperfections.
If you have any questions, we invite you to contact our advisors, who will be able to answer them.
Diamond
Diamonds are the hardest stone there is. As such, they can be worn with confidence on a daily basis. However, it is important to be careful when wearing them and to avoid any knocks. To clean them, use warm soapy water and a small brush before drying them with a soft cloth.
Sapphire & Ruby
Although very hard, sapphire and ruby are sensitive to knocks, potentially causing scratches and breakage. Like all precious materials, these two gems must be handled with care. We recommend that you have your jewellery cleaned periodically in-store to avoid any mishandling. Sapphires and rubies are not suitable for ultrasonic cleaning.
Emerald
Emeralds need to be handled with care to avoid scratches and chips. They are not suitable for rhodium plating or ultrasonic cleaning. Heat, perfumes, cosmetics, household products and liquids should all be avoided as they can cause damage.
We recommend that you have your jewellery cleaned periodically in-store to avoid any mishandling.
Mother-of-pearl & Pearl
Mother-of-pearl and pearl are sensitive to friction with other materials which could scratch them. Heat, perfumes, cosmetics, household products and liquids should all be avoided as they can cause damage. Pearls and mother-of-pearl are not suitable for ultrasonic cleaning.
A soft cloth will be enough to keep them clean.
Onyx
Onyx should be handled with care as it is sensitive to scratches and knocks. To clean them, use warm soapy water and a small brush before drying them with a soft cloth. Onyx does not tolerate contact with solvents.
Malachite
Malachite is sensitive to knocks and friction with any other materials, which could scratch it. Perfumes and household products should be avoided, as should liquids. It is not suitable for ultrasonic cleaning.
A soft cloth will be enough to keep them clean.
