VICTORIA & ALBERT MUSEUM, DUNDEE (SCOTLAND)
Ocean Liners: Speed and Style
Exhibited from September 15, 2018, through February 24, 2019
The Cartier Collection is delighted to have been a part of the inaugural exhibition at the V&ADundee, the first design museum in Scotland and the first V&A to open outside London (September 2018). The Ocean Liners: Speed & Style exhibition came to Dundee after its resounding success in Salem, near Boston, and in London. The exhibition plunged visitors into the opulent world of 20th-century transatlantic ocean liners and their elegant passengers. Co-organised by the Victoria and Albert Museum of London and the Peabody Essex Museum of Salem, it is the first exhibition to explore the design and cultural impact of the ocean liner on an international scale. The Cartier Collection lent a tiara made of natural pearls and diamonds that used to belong to Lady Marguerite Allan, a treasure that survived the tragic sinking of the Lusitania in 1915.
